This Privacy Policy explains what information Still collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. Still is built to work on your device, so most of your data never leaves your iPhone. “Still,” “we,” and “our” refer to the Still iOS app and the still.app website, operated by Duarte Oliveira.
1. The short version
- Your focus sessions, schedules, and the list of apps you choose to limit stay on your device.
- We don't see which specific apps you block or how long you focus for.
- If you join the waitlist, we store your email so we can let you know when Still launches.
- We don't sell your data. Ever.
2. What Still stores on your device
Still uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to limit apps. Because of how those frameworks work, the identifiers of the apps you choose to block are processed inside a sandbox on your device and are not accessible to us — not even in aggregate.
Your focus history, schedules, shield-block counts, and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. They are included in your iCloud or encrypted device backups if you have those enabled, under your Apple account.
3. Information we collect on the website
When you join the waitlist at still.app, we collect the email address you submit. We use it to let you know when Still is available and to send occasional updates about the app. You can unsubscribe at any time.
To prevent abuse of the waitlist form, we temporarily keep a rate-limit counter tied to your IP address in memory. It is not written to disk and is not used for any other purpose.
The website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.
4. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Still:
- Loops — stores waitlist emails and sends updates.
- Vercel — hosts the still.app website and processes short-lived request logs.
- Apple — distributes the app through the App Store and provides the Screen Time and Family Controls APIs that Still relies on. Your App Store purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
These providers only receive what they need to perform their role and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
5. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Operate the app and the website.
- Send you waitlist updates, launch notices, and occasional product news if you asked to hear from us.
- Respond to support requests you send us.
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations.
6. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information under the following legal bases under the GDPR: your consent (for waitlist emails and product updates), the performance of a contract (to provide the Service you asked for), and our legitimate interests (to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse), balanced against your rights.
7. Sharing
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, or when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Still, our users, or the public.
If Still is ever acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll let you know before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
8. Retention
On-device data lives on your iPhone until you delete the app or reset it from within Settings. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Website request logs are kept by Vercel for a short period for operational purposes and then discarded.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at duartefmoliveira8@gmail.com. You can also unsubscribe from waitlist emails using the link in any message we send.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children
Still is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
11. International transfers
Our service providers may process your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information when it crosses borders.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including keeping most of it on your device. No service is completely secure, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we'll tell you through the app or by email when reasonable.
